Reupholstering a leather chair....

So I have had this leather chair for 12 years or so.  It is so comfortable and big I never could sell it even though the arms were ripped all the way to the wood.  I finally decided to cover the chair so I could use it as a nice place to drink my coffee in the morning.  I started out looking up how to upholster a chair, most blogs and websites intimidated me but after researching Pinterest looking at patterns I liked I decided to just go for it.  Here it is step by step:
1. I went to Joann's to look at fabric that was on sale.  I bought 10 yards of a pretty green floral pattern.  It was heavy duty fabric.  I also bought upholstery pins to line the front and sides.
2. I decided not to remove the leather so I stapled the loose pieces to the wood.
3. I used tracing paper (white tissue paper) to trace the inner arm pieces.  I cut about 2 inches outside of the trace so there was enough fabric to tuck in.
4. Cut the fabric large enough for each arm.  Leave plenty of room to tuck in under the cushion and under the chair.
5. Start by tucking the fabric into the chair.  Make each arm tight by stapling the fabric to the bottom as well as under the arm(don't worry if you can see the staples you will use the pins at the end to cover them up).
6. Next cut a piece for the back make sure you have lots of extra fabric, you can always cut extra off.
7. Tuck and staple the bottom just like you did on the arms.  You will get better at this as you go, by the time I got to the back I was a lot more confident than when I started.
8. Next you will use the upholstery pins however you want.  I spaced mine close but it is up to you how you want it to look.
9. For the cushion you can either sew a cover for it or you can staple the fabric to the bottom of the cushion.

Materials you need:
~ Fabric (10 yards $20)
~ Upholstery Pins (1 pack $19.99 50% off at Joann's)
~ Staple Gun and Staples
~ Tissue Paper or Tracing Paper

Enjoy!!

Here are some pictures of the process.....
