Cutting the Cord on Cable
For the last 2 years my husband has said we should cut our cable. Finally I decided I would give in after he told me we could go buy "rabbit ears" and still pick up a few channels. I did my research to make sure we would be able to get ABC and NBC, with the Olympics coming up I had to be able to watch NBC and ABC was for The Bachelor, of course! Here is what we needed.... Since our TV in the living room is an older big screen we had to purchase a HD converter box. This comes with a remote and the box is small and sleek. We went with the $49.99 converter box from Target. They have several you can choose from and they are located in the electronics section. Then we had to get the antenna AKA rabbit ears. We went with the high radius one at $19.99 also from Target. Both of these items together was less than our cable so already we are saving money for the month. We took everything home hooked it into the TV and let it do its thing. After about 5 minutes we had 40 available channels and they are clear too. It has been 2 months now and we are loving the change, not to mention the $102 we save every month. To anyone out there that is thinking about cancelling cable I say do it!
