Have you ever wanted to upgrade your home but the cost was too high?? After we painted the exterior of our new house I wanted to add new shutters. I only had one problem... the shutters I wanted would have cost me THOUSANDS of dollars and I did not have that in the budget for shutters. So I did what any diy blogger would do, I researched other blogs. I came across Absolutely Arkansas. I made a few changes to mine only because I wanted a 4 board backer but for the most part I followed her directions. Here is what I used...
Wood {Home Depot had several pieces in the 70% cart}
Extra Durable Black Shutter Paint {Home Depot}
Heavy Duty Nails
Heavy Duty Screws
Board Braces for the back of the shutters {2 per shutter}
Step 1: Cut the wood or have Home Depot cut it for you
Step 2: Sand the wood to smooth out the edges
Step 3: Paint the shutters and let dry over night
Step 4: Brace the four pieces together and then use longer screws to attached the 2 cross boards
Step 5: Attach to the house {this requires 2 or more people}
Happy Crafting!
