Have you ever watched HGTV and thought, Oh I could totally do that in my house. Well I'm with you and let me just say once I started the demolition on our hall bathroom I was thinking maybe the best place for me is sitting on the sofa watching the show- not actually trying to be in the show. We have been wanting to renovate both our bathrooms and I thought it would be easier to start small with the hall bath and move our way up. After saving up all of our Lowe's gift cards we finally had $300 in gift cards, perfect I can do a small bathroom for $300- right... well maybe I went a little over but more on that in the budget section. So Trent is not always on board with house projects, and by not always I mean never, so he decided he was going to make me do all the work in hopes that I would join him in the no more house projects strike. His plan failed because now I am ready for my next project.
OK so lets begin. Here are a few before picture of the before...

Before (The Tub is the only thing that stayed)

Demolition was step 1. Trent helped with this part only because he got to use a sledge hammer. We removed everything but the tub, this included the tile, vanity, toilet, mirror, towel racks and trim. I watched a few videos from Lowe's about prepping the floor and how to lay tile that you can find
here. I followed their step by step process and it worked very well. I have never done this before so it went by slower than I would have liked but it is totally doable.

Hard at work |
After the floor was prepped with the concrete backer board I set my new tile out to make sure I liked the pattern before set them permanently. Here is a look at the layout
After I was satisfied with the look I began to lay the layer of thin set mortar and set the tile. Again you can find the step by step directions from Lowe's
here. After 24 hours I applied the grout then 48 hours later I sealed the tile and let that dry for another 24 hours. After the sealer dried the trim and shoe molding was installed along with the bead board and wall molding.
