Blinded by the Light

Wrapped up like... I bet you are singing that song and you won't be able to get it out of your head now.  Your Welcome!
Over the weekend I decided to tackle the kitchen/dining area light.  Currently we have a small white fan over the table.  I have envisioned a lantern style light hanging over the table to give the area a rustic/unique look.  During our Saturday morning outing to Hobby Lobby I spotted the perfect rustic lantern, and it was 50% off!!  I already had a pendant light kit I had purchased a while back and my thought was I could just cut the cord short and attach the wires to the ceiling connectors (I'm sure there is a more technical term but I will just call them ceiling connectors- you know the white and black wires that hang down).  After I made my purchase at Hobby Lobby ($24.99), off to Home Depot I went.  There I purchased a decorative ceiling cap ($6.99) and a oil rubbed bronze chain ($9.99).
Once I got home and Sawyer was napping I pulled up YouTube to find a video (there are tons of videos on electrical wiring so take your pick).  I watched a few to make sure I knew what I was doing and then I was ready.  First I went to the breaker and cut off the power in the kitchen and a few other areas just for safe measures. I removed the fan, all in one piece (remember the little one is asleep so mama doesn't have time to remove the fan piece by piece).  Then came cutting the pendant cord (insert Husband to the rescue).  He connected the wires, added the chain for looks and extra support and voila... We have a new kitchen light.
Here are a few before and after pictures. Hope you enjoy!
